NAFED Online Training: Training At Your Convenience

NAFED is dedicated to the fire equipment distribution industry and has the expertise to train your staff on the latest codes and standards. NAFED offers ten online courses to provide technicians with training from the comfort of their own home or office. Courses include certification preparation training, general safety awareness, and inspection and maintenance procedures for all types of fire extinguishers.

Training Programs

  • Approximately 6-hrs. in length

    NFPA 17, Standard for Dry Chemical Extinguishing Systems (2024 edition) - Standards Education & Certification Preparatory Overview.

    Designed for field technician, technical, sales and other applicable company personnel, this program provides an in-depth review of the NFPA 17 Standard and serves a preparatory platform for taking the ICC-NAFED certification exam in the “FN” discipline.

  • Approximately 6-hrs. in length

    NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations (2024 edition) - Standards Education & Certification Preparatory Overview.

    Designed for field technician, technical, sales and other applicable company personnel, this program provides an in-depth review of the NFPA 96 Standard and serves a preparatory platform for taking the ICC-NAFED certification exam in the “FK” discipline.

    NFPA 17A, Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems (2024 edition) - Standards Education & Certification Preparatory Overview.

    Designed for field technician, technical, sales and other applicable company personnel, this program provides an in-depth review of the NFPA 17A Standard and serves a preparatory platform for taking the ICC-NAFED certification exam in the “FK” discipline.

    NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers (2022 edition) – Standards Education & Certification Preparatory Overview.

    Designed for field technician, technical, sales and other applicable company personnel, this program provides an in-depth review of the NFPA 10 Standard and serves a preparatory platform for taking the ICC-NAFED certification exam in the “FE” discipline.

    This general safety awareness training is intended to provide a general overview of various areas of safety and safe work practices. This training does not replace job specific safety function training nor in-depth training on certain topics. Please refer to your employer for such details and additional training.

    The Recharge of Portable Fire Extinguisher program provides NFPA-10 compliant instructions on the safe and correct recharge techniques and procedures for dry stored pressure dry chemical, various stored pressure clean agent, water type extinguishers and an overview of CO2 refilling.  Always read, understand and follow the manufacturer's recharge manual.

    This general awareness training is intended to provide an overview and introduction to portable fire extinguishers. The majority of users of this program will be new technicians. This program is not intended to provide detailed servicing information nor should it replace hands-on training provided by those skilled in the industry.

  • 17 minutes, 1 EEC

    This training program is intended to provide a general overview of inspection, maintenance, and recharging procedures for wheeled dry chemical fire extinguishers. Please refer to the specific manufacturer's manuals for detailed procedures. This online program is a practical training program that must be supplemented with actual hands-on training provided by the service company.
